It has been shown to inhibit the proliferation of prostate cancer cells, as well as to inhibit tumor growth in animals. This peptide also inhibits protease activity in subtilisin and has been used to study the inhibition of angiogenesis by endothelial cell proliferation. The peptide is an inhibitor of ion exchange and has been used to study the effects of fatty acids on carcinoma cell lines. Boc-Ala-Ala-Pro-Ala-pNA has also been shown to be active against other animal cells and could be used for research purposes.
