4-Bromophenoxyacetic acid is a heterocycle that has the molecular formula of C9H6O2Br. This molecule consists of a carboxylate, alkanoic acid, and coumarin derivatives. It can be found in plants such as Podophyllum peltatum and might have anticancer properties. 4-Bromophenoxyacetic acid is also used to study the vibrational spectra of β-amino acids, which are important for protein synthesis and cell growth. 4-Bromophenoxyacetic acid can be synthesized from bromobenzene, acetic anhydride, and diethylmalonate by reaction with hydrogen chloride gas in chloroform at 0 °C.
