(R)-tert-Butyl 2-(hydroxymethyl)pyrrolidine-1-carboxylate (TBHPC) is a pharmacological agent that is synthesised by the decarboxylation of phthalazinone. It has affinity for histamine H1 and H3 receptors, but not for muscarinic acetylcholine receptors. TBHPC is also an enolate, which means that it can be used to form an addition product with nucleophiles such as ammonia or alcohols. This reaction can be used to synthesise organic molecules such as amides, esters, and nitriles.
