Description:1,3-Benzothiazole-2,6-diamine (1BDA) is a heterobicyclic compound. It has been shown to have anticancer effects in vitro and in vivo. 1BDA has been shown to inhibit the growth of cancer cells without harming normal cells. The mechanism of action is not well understood but may involve the inhibition of gyrase and topoisomerase enzymes, which are responsible for DNA replication and repair. 1BDA also inhibits dopamine 3 (D3) hydroxylase, which converts dopamine into norepinephrine. Norepinephrine is a neurotransmitter that regulates blood pressure and heart rate. Dopamine D3 receptor antagonists have been investigated as potential antihypertensive drugs and antipsychotics. 1BDA has also been shown to be a potentiodynamic polarization inhibitor which decreases corrosion rates in organic solvents such as chloroformate, acetone, and ethanol.
