Description:

9-Bromophenanthrene is a palladium complex that has been used as a catalyst in organic synthesis. 9-Bromophenanthrene has been shown to catalyze the decarboxylation of naphthalene to produce decahydronaphthalene. The optimal reaction conditions for this reaction are acidic pH and high viscosity, which may be due to the formation of hydrogen bonds between the reactants. 9-Bromophenanthrene has also been used as a fluorescence probe for DNA and protein detection. It can be used to detect proteins by labeling them with a fluorescent dye and detecting their fluorescence emission. The dye will attach to proteins with hydrogen bonds, where it can then emit light at a wavelength different from its excitation wavelength. This property makes 9-bromophenanthrene useful for detecting proteins in living cells or tissues without harming them.
