Description:Benzotrichloride is a catalyst that reacts with sodium carbonate and benzoyl chloride to form a polymer. The reaction solution is heated for one hour at 60°C, followed by the addition of water vapor and particle. The polymerization process has been shown to proceed through an acid-base reaction mechanism, in which hydrogen fluoride is the acid and benzotrichloride is the base. This polymer can be used as an antimicrobial agent that inhibits bacterial growth by disrupting cell membranes.
