Product Information
Name:Benzyl acrylate - stabilized with MEHQ
Brand:Biosynth
Description:Benzyl acrylate is a polymer that is used as an acrylate monomer. It has a hydroxyl group, which makes it reactive to radiation. Benzyl acrylate can be synthesized from benzyl chloride and acrylic acid by reacting them in the presence of a base such as potassium hydroxide or sodium methoxide. The reaction is carried out at high temperature and pressure in order to produce the polymer. High-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) can be used to monitor the progress of the reaction by measuring the disappearance of benzyl chloride. Magnetic resonance spectroscopy (MRS) can also be used to measure this disappearance, with activation energies determined through MRS. This polymer is used in coatings and films due to its film-forming properties.
