Description:
1,4-Benzodioxane is a potential anticancer agent that inhibits the growth of prostate cancer cells. It also has an antihypertensive activity and can be used as a potassium channel blocker. 1,4-Benzodioxane is synthesized from sodium carbonate, sodium bicarbonate, and sulfuric acid in the presence of a hydroxyl group. The reaction is catalyzed by a strong acid such as hydrochloric acid or sulfuric acid. This reaction requires kinetic energy to proceed to completion.
