Benzofuran is a coumarin derivative that can be used as an antimicrobial agent. It has been shown to have reactive properties, which are due to the formation of a covalent bond between benzofuran and the target molecule. Benzofuran has been shown to inhibit the mitochondrial membrane potential and damage the papillary muscle in rats with congestive heart failure. This drug also binds to receptors in cells, affecting their activity and causing biological changes. The reaction solution is bound form, which is a form of benzofuran that does not react with other molecules and thus remains unchanged.
