4-(Benzyloxy)pyridin-2(1H)-one is a chiral molecule that has been shown to be safe in animal studies. It has been shown to reduce weight in animals and humans, but not without side effects. The molecule is labile and can be synthesized by an asymmetric synthesis. 4-(Benzyloxy)pyridin-2(1H)-one also has a number of phenyl groups, which give it both a weight reduction profile as well as the ability to absorb light at specific wavelengths.
