Description:2-(2-Bromophenyl)ethanamine is a new and efficient method for the amination of imines with methyl groups. This process involves the use of catalytic amounts of N-bromosuccinimide (NBS) in the presence of 2,6-lutidine to form a cyclic imine intermediate. The reaction is carried out at room temperature and the yield can be as high as 99%. The reaction shown here is an example of an asymmetric amination reaction.
