Description:3-Bromoisothiazole is a cyclic heterocycle that is related to the thiazole and isothiazole rings. It has analgesic, anti-inflammatory, antiallergic, and anticonvulsant properties. 3-Bromoisothiazole binds to the glutamate site of the metabotropic glutamate receptor (mGluR) and acts as an allosteric modulator. 3-Bromoisothiazole also inhibits nitric oxide production in a dose-dependent manner. 3-Bromoisothiazole can be used orally for pain relief and as an antiallergic drug. It is metabolized by CYP450 enzymes such as CYP2C9 and CYP3A4 into metabolites that are excreted through the urine or bile.
