Product Information
- 4-Bromo-2-furancarboxylic acid
4-Bromofuran-2-carboxylic acid is a white solid that is soluble in water and has a melting point of about 100°C. It can be prepared by the reaction of benzene with furan, followed by acetalization with dimethylformamide. The bromine atom in 4-bromofuran-2-carboxylic acid can be substituted with chlorine, which leads to the corresponding chloro derivative. This heteroaromatic compound can then be used as a starting material for other synthetic procedures. 4-Bromofuran-2-carboxylic acid has also been shown to react with nitro compounds to form nitrosobenzene derivatives.
