The reaction solution can be obtained by reacting phenol with bromine, which yields 1-bromo-4-phenoxybenzene and 2,6-dibromoethanol. Magnetic resonance spectroscopy has been used to demonstrate that this chemical binds to the receptor site of amp-activated protein kinase (AMPK). It also has a hydrochloric acid and hydroxyl group functional groups.
