Description

10-Bromodecanoic acid is a fatty acid that is used in analytical chemistry. It has been shown to increase the expression of the gene of interest in lung cells. This was demonstrated by transfection experiments using acidic pH, cellulose derivatives, and surface-enhanced Raman spectroscopy (SERS). 10-Bromodecanoic acid has also been used as a carbon source in the culture of cancer cells. Clinical trials are underway to evaluate its potential use for treatment of cancer. 10-Bromodecanoic acid has been found to be effective as an anti-cancer agent due to its ability to inhibit fatty acid synthesis and block lipid droplet formation in cancer cells.
