1,4-Benzene dicarboxaldehydedioxime is a reactive compound that is used in the treatment of fungal infections. This chemical has been shown to be effective against strains of fungi such as Aspergillus and Candida. 1,4-Benzene dicarboxaldehydedioxime is an amine that can react with aldehydes to form nitro compounds. It has been shown to be insoluble in water and acetonitrile but soluble in chlorinated solvents. It reacts with uv radiation to produce chloride fluorescence and can be irradiated by high energy sources such as electron beam or X-rays. The product is not toxic to animals in low doses but has carcinogenic effects on rats when given repeatedly for two years.
