Benzidinedihydrochloride is a chemical compound that is used as a marker for chromatographic analysis. It has been shown to have genotoxic activity and carcinogenic potential. Benzidinedihydrochloride inhibits human DNA polymerase alpha, beta and gamma, which are enzymes involved in DNA synthesis. It also inhibits the enzyme activities of other proteins such as RNA polymerase II, ribonuclease H1, collagenase and alkaline phosphatase. The reaction solution is composed of benzidine hydrochloride (0.04 g), potassium chloride (0.2 g) and sodium hydroxide (0.02 g).
