4-Benzyloxybenzylbromide is a carboxylate that has been shown to inhibit the activity of aromatase. It binds covalently to the heme group, which is an important cofactor in the catalytic process. 4-Benzyloxybenzylbromide inhibits the activity of aromatase by enediol formation and stereoselective binding to the active site. This inhibitor has been shown to have potent inhibitory effects against cancer cells in vitro and in vivo.
