Description:

4-Bromo-3-methoxyphenol is a phenolic compound that is used as an additive in the production of polyesters. It is a colorless to pale yellow solid that is soluble in organic solvents. 4-Bromo-3-methoxyphenol has been shown to retard the polymerization of 2,5-dibromoterephthalic acid and to be a good nitrogen scavenger. The retardant effect can be explained by its favorable interactions with the dianhydride and diethyl groups. 4-Bromo-3-methoxyphenol reacts with isothiocyanate and chloroethyl groups, which results in crosslinking reactions.
