Tert-Butyl(4S)-1-methyl-2-oxoimidazolidine-4-carboxylate is a succinic acid derivative. It is used in the synthesis of biologically active β-amino acids, which are used in the production of drugs such as fenofibrate and gemfibrozil. Tert-butyl(4S)-1-methyl-2-oxoimidazolidine-4-carboxylate is a stereoselective reactant that reacts with malonic ester to form a tertiary alcohol. This reaction proceeds via an enolate intermediate, which has high chemical yield and high stereoselectivity.
