3-Bromocatechol is a reactive compound that can form conjugates with other compounds. It is a liquid crystal composition in the solid state and has a denaturing effect on rat liver microsomes. 3-Bromocatechol has been shown to be an effective substrate for lipid kinases, which are enzymes that catalyze phospholipid synthesis by transferring phosphate groups from ATP to the hydroxyl group of phospholipids. 3-Bromocatechol has also been shown to have anti-inflammatory properties, inhibiting prostaglandin synthesis by binding to membrane-bound arachidonate 5-lipoxygenase and preventing its activation.
