4-Bromo-N,N-diethylbenzenesulfonamide (4BDES) is a chlorinating agent that reacts with primary and secondary amines to form sulfonyl chlorides. It is used in the synthesis of sulfonamides. 4BDES can be used to cleave bonds when coupled with an appropriate nucleophile.
