Product Information

Name:
(Bromomethyl)cyclobutane
Synonyms:
  • Cyclobutylmethyl bromide
  • 1-(Bromomethyl)cyclobutane
  • Bromocyclobutylmethane
  • Cyclobutane, (bromomethyl)-
Description:

Bromomethylcyclobutane is a synthetic compound that inhibits the CCR5 receptor, which is a co-receptor for HIV. It has been shown to have antiviral activity against HIV and hepatitis C virus (HCV) in vitro. Bromomethylcyclobutane also has anticancer activity, and its structure can be used as a lead for developing new drugs with cancer therapeutic potential. Bromomethylcyclobutane binds to the serine protease domain of the δ opioid receptors and inhibits protein synthesis by inhibiting uptake of amino acids into cells. It also prevents the formation of cellular proteins by binding to the hydroxyl group on lysine residues on DNA or RNA.
