Description:

N-Benzyl-3-aminopropionic acid ethyl ester is an antiviral agent that inhibits the replication of rhinovirus in cell culture. It binds to the active site of the enzyme, preventing the conversion of N-benzyl-3-aminopropionate to aldehyde and carboxylic acid. This drug has shown some activity against HIV in cell culture. In addition, it irreversibly inhibits cellular protein synthesis by binding to the cysteine residue, which is required for peptide bond formation.
