Betulinic acid is a natural compound that has been shown to have anti-inflammatory and anticancer properties. It is also a chemical inhibitor of the GSH-PX activity and DNA binding activity. Betulinic acid has been shown to inhibit the proliferation of cancer cells by inducing apoptosis, which may be due to its ability to activate caspase-3 and caspase-8. This compound also inhibits skin tumor formation in mice, which may be due to its ability to inhibit cell proliferation. The antiinflammatory properties of betulinic acid have been shown in animal models and in human atherosclerotic lesions, where it inhibited the production of inflammatory cytokines such as IL-1β, IL-6, TNF-α, and GM-CSF.
