Bis(cyclopentadienyl)cobalt(II) is a chemical compound with the formula Co(CH) (Cp*Co). It is a redox-active metal complex that has been used as an analytical reagent. It has been shown to be stable in air and hydrochloric acid, but not in trifluoroacetic acid or water. In the presence of nitrogen atoms, it undergoes oxidation at its Co atom, and reduction at the Cp*Co center. The oxidation potential of bis(cyclopentadienyl)cobalt(II) can be measured by cyclic voltammetry on a mercury electrode.
The reaction of bis(cyclopentadienyl)cobalt(II) with hydrochloric acid is an example of a suzuki coupling reaction. Bis(cyclopentadienyl)cobalt(II) has also been used as a catalyst for the synthesis of polymers from monomers
