Product Information
Butyric acid is a short-chain fatty acid that is produced during the fermentation of carbohydrates by anaerobic bacteria. The sodium salts of butyric acid are used as non-antibiotic feed supplements to increase the energy content of the diet and to improve feed efficiency in livestock. Butyric acid has been shown to have potent inducers (e.g., thermal expansion) on the function of cells and tissues, which may be due to its ability to induce cell proliferation and differentiation. Studies have shown that butyric acid can reduce bowel disease, water vapor, and hl-60 cells from rats with cancer. It also acts as a strong antioxidant that protects against chemical pesticides in vitro.
