Betamethasone 21-propionate is a chemical compound with the molecular formula CHClFO. It is a pyrithione that has been used to harmonize acetonitrile and salicylic acid as well as validate chromatographic plates. Betamethasone 21-propionate is an ester of betamethasone dipropionate and betamethasone. It is soluble in acidic water, but not in alkaline solutions. Betamethasone 21-propionate can be metabolized into betamethasone dipropionate and betamethasone through oxidation by cytochrome P450 enzymes.
