Name:Bis-(4-nitrophenyl)amine
Synonyms:
- 4-Nitro-N-(4-nitrophenyl)benzenamine4,4'-DinitrodiphenylamineNSC 36659
Brand:Biosynth
Description:Bis-(4-nitrophenyl)amine (NPPA) is a primary amine that is used as a precursor in the production of dyes, plastics, and pesticides. It can be synthesized by the reaction of nitric acid with aniline. NPPA exists in two forms: uncomplexed and complexed. The uncomplexed form is a white solid at room temperature and soluble in organic solvents such as dimethylformamide. The complexed form has a particle size of less than 0.2 micrometers and is insoluble in organic solvents. When heated to temperatures below its melting point, NPPA decomposes into nitric oxide, nitrogen dioxide, and water vapor. In an acidic environment, NPPA undergoes bond cleavage to produce cyanate ions.
