Product Information

Name:
Bis(maleimido)methyl ether
Synonyms:
  • 1,1'-[Oxybis(methylene)]bis-1H-pyrrole-2,5-dioneBMMEN,N'-(Oxydimethylene)bismaleimide
  • Bis-maleimidomethyl ether
  • 1,1'-(oxydimethanediyl)bis(1H-pyrrole-2,5-dione)
Description:

Bis(maleimido)methyl ether is a fatty acid that has been shown to induce senescence in vivo and in vitro. It has also been shown to inhibit the proliferation of hematopoietic cells, which are cells that produce blood. Bis(maleimido)methyl ether has been used to treat leukemia, lymphoma, and myeloma.
Bis(maleimido)methyl ether inhibits the growth of cancerous cells by binding to a monoclonal antibody that recognizes the c-c chemokine receptor on cancerous cells and prevents it from functioning as a receptor for chemokines. This leads to an accumulation of hematopoietic cells in the microenvironment, which results in decreased leukemic stem cell activity.
