N-Boc-nortropinone is an affinity ligand that has been shown to have high affinity for nicotinic acetylcholine receptors. It yields a high concentration of acetylcholine in the brain, which may be due to its ability to cross the blood-brain barrier. N-Boc-nortropinone has been shown to bind with both piperidine and acetylcholine receptor sites on leukotriene A4 receptors. The affinity of this drug for the receptor site can be optimized by attaching different substituents at various positions on the molecule. N-Boc-nortropinone also has pharmacokinetic properties that are similar to those of diphenyl ethers, making it a potential candidate for use as a drug delivery agent.
