It is also used as an intermediate in the synthesis of vx-770, which inhibits the enzyme tyrosine kinase and may have therapeutic potential for treating cancer. 3-Bromo-4-methylaniline has been used to prepare supramolecular structures with a variety of biological molecules such as DNA, RNA, proteins, and peptides. The chemical reactions between 3BMMA and these biomolecules are thought to occur through hydrogen bonding interactions, forming stable complexes that can be identified by nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy (NMR).
