3-(2-Bromoacetyl)benzonitrile is an organic compound that belongs to the group of benzyl compounds. It is a modulating agent that binds to the leishmania adenosine receptor and inhibits the binding of adenosine, which prevents the activation of this receptor. This drug has been shown to be active against carrageenan-induced inflammation in rats and to reduce leishmanial burden in mice. 3-(2-Bromoacetyl)benzonitrile also has been shown to inhibit the production of inflammatory cytokines such as tumor necrosis factor alpha (TNF-α). The synthetic process for this drug involves a cross-coupling reaction with an amidoxime and an electron donor, such as benzene or trifluoromethane, to produce benzonitrile. This is then reacted with bromoacetic acid in the presence of base to form 3-(2-bromoacet
