Tert-butoxycarbonyl-L-glutamine is a glutaminyl derivative of L-glutamine that has been shown to be a potent growth factor. Tert-butoxycarbonyl-L-glutamine has been shown to have both anti-bacterial and anti-viral properties. It inhibits the growth of bacteria by inhibiting protein synthesis at the ribosomal level, preventing mRNA from being translated into protein. Tert-butoxycarbonyl-L-glutamine also activates epidermal growth factor receptors on cells, which may be involved in its ability to stimulate cell proliferation.
