Description:Butyl cyclopropanesulfonate is a molecule that has been shown to be effective in treating cancer. It binds to the amino acid tropomyosin, which is found in the cell membrane of cancer cells and inhibits the flow of calcium ions through the cell membrane. This leads to disruption of calcium-dependent processes such as protein synthesis and cellular division. The binding site on tropomyosin for butyl cyclopropanesulfonate has been determined using a vitro method. Butyl cyclopropanesulfonate also inhibits fatty acid synthesis, which may be beneficial for patients with inflammatory diseases or hyperproliferative diseases.
