Isobutene is a hydrocarbon with the formula C4H8. It is a colorless liquid with a boiling point of 33.5 °C and a density of 0.79 g/cm3 at 25 °C. Isobutene is produced by the hydrolysis of 2-butanol and can be used as an intermediate in the synthesis of other organic compounds.
