This binding leads to a conformational change in the protein, which causes it to lose its ability to bind oxygen, resulting in its inability to deliver oxygen throughout the body. 2-Bromoacetyl bromide also has anticancer properties because it inhibits mitochondrial function, leading to cancer cell death.
