Product Information
- 1-Bromo-2-Chloro-4-Methylbenzene
4-Bromo-3-chlorotoluene is a substrate for benzoate degradation and can be used to measure the density of cells. The substrate reacts with catechols to form benzyl alcohol and benzoic acid. The reaction is dependent on the density of cells and the concentration of substrates. 4-Bromo-3-chlorotoluene also acts as an analog for benzoate in this reaction. This chemical reacts with pseudomonas, causing it to produce toluene.
