Product Information

Name:
4-Bromo-2-methoxy-1-nitrobenzene
Synonyms:
  • 4-Bromo-2-Methoxy-1-Nitrobenzene
  • 5-Bromo-2-nitroanisole
Description:

4-Bromo-2-methoxy-1-nitrobenzene (4BMN) is a nucleophile that can be used to optimize the safety profiles of drugs. 4BMN acts as a ligand at glutamate receptors, which are metabotropic and allosteric modulators. 4BMN has been shown to activate the orthosteric binding site of the metabotropic glutamate receptor with an EC50 value of 0.3 μM and is able to inhibit the activation of NMDA receptors at concentrations up to 10 μM. This shows that 4BMN can be used as a potential treatment for neurological disorders such as Parkinson's disease or Alzheimer's disease.
