Description:

1-Bromo-3,5-diphenylbenzene (1BD) is a monomer that belongs to the group of chemical compounds known as rubrene. It is a fluorescent material that can be used for the production of organic light emitting diodes and displays. 1BD has been shown to be an active organocatalyst for the polymerization of ethylene oxide. The chemical structure of 1BD consists of a benzene ring with two phenyl rings attached at 1 and 3 positions. In addition, 1BD contains one bromine atom at 5 position and one chlorine atom at 8 position. This aromatic compound has been synthesized by reacting acetaldehyde with aniline in a Friedel-Crafts reaction followed by chlorination with hydrochloric acid.
