5-Bromo-2,3-dimethylindole is a yellow aliphatic compound that yields a yellow solid. It has photophysical properties such as fluorescence and fluorescence. 5-Bromo-2,3-dimethylindole has been shown to undergo cycloaddition reactions with other compounds with an electron-deficient double bond, such as benzaldehyde. The reaction takes place in the presence of UV irradiation and oxidative conditions. The reaction product of 5-bromo-2,3-dimethylindole and benzaldehyde is called indolenine. This interaction between the two molecules can be seen through the affinity of the monomers and their ability to bind together.
