Description

Benzophenone is a drug that belongs to the class of nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs. It is an aromatic heterocyclic compound that can be found in many common products, such as plastics and dyes. Benzophenone has been shown to have physiological effects on energy metabolism, which may be due to hydrogen bonding interactions between benzophenone and diphenylmethane. It has also been shown to be a potent inhibitor of DNA template synthesis in vitro, which may be due to its keto group. Benzophenone is not readily absorbed from the gastrointestinal tract and undergoes rapid metabolism in vivo, with major metabolites excreted in urine.
