Description

N-Bromophthalimide is a hydrogen bond acceptor that is used in pharmaceutical preparations. It has been shown to be an effective cationic surfactant, which may be due to its ability to form ionic bonds with phosphotungstic acid and nitrogen atoms. N-Bromophthalimide also has reactive properties and can react with serotonin reuptake inhibitors. The reaction mechanism of this compound is not fully understood, but it has been shown to have a redox potential that is greater than the standard electron donor sodium bromide.
