- 1-(2-Bromoethyl)-4-Methylbenzene
- Benzene-1,2-Diylbis(Dimethylsilane)
1,2-Bis(dimethylsilyl)benzene is an organic compound that belongs to the family of silicone compounds. It is insoluble in water but soluble in organic solvents. 1,2-Bis(dimethylsilyl)benzene is used as a ligand for transition metals and has been shown to be an efficient catalyst for the hydrosilylation of ethylene. The reaction mechanism for this process involves coordination of the silicon atom with a primary amine group and subsequent insertion of ethylene into the silicon-carbon bond, thereby forming a new carbon-silicon bond. This reaction is exothermic and can be carried out at temperatures ranging from -78°C to 100°C with high yields.
