Product Information

tert-Butyl glycinate is a synthetic reagent that contains a tert-butyl group. It is used in analytical chemistry to determine the concentrations of cinchonidine and ester hydrochloride in the reaction solution. This can be done by adding trifluoroacetic acid to the reaction solution, which causes the formation of tert-butyl glycinate. The hydrogen chloride from this reaction will react with sodium carbonate, forming hydrogen gas and sodium bicarbonate. The presence of nitrogen atoms on the tert-butyl glycinate molecule allows for an asymmetric synthesis, which can be used to synthesize serine protease.
