Description:
5-Bromo-8-hydroxy quinoline (5BHQ) is a cytotoxic agent that has been shown to induce apoptosis in tumor cells. 5BHQ increases the concentration of intracellular Ca2+ and inhibits mitochondrial membrane potential, leading to the induction of apoptosis. The anti-tumor activity of 5BHQ is due to its ability to inhibit the growth of tumor cells and induce apoptosis by interfering with mitochondrial pathways.
