Product Information
- Isoquinoline, 6-bromo-3-chloro-
6-Bromo-3-chloroisoquinoline (6BC) is a binder that binds to palladium complexes. It has been shown to have anticancer activity in vitro against cancer cells from human breast, prostate, and cervix. 6BC inhibits the proliferation of cancer cells by binding to the heterocycle of DNA and inhibiting transcription of DNA into RNA. This molecule also binds to the palladium complex and blocks its catalytic site. 6BC is synthesised by reacting 2-chlorobenzaldehyde with 6-bromopyridine in sulfate buffer at pH 7.0, followed by purification using column chromatography on silica gel. The molecular weight is determined as 390.08 g/mol and it contains no detectable impurities. The synthesis is analysed using UV spectroscopy and reversed phase HPLC analysis, which show that it has a purity of 99%. The structure of the compound was confirmed by NMR spectroscopy and X-
