4,4'-Bis(dimethylamino)thiobenzophenone (BDATP) is a light-sensitive organic compound that belongs to the group of aromatic compounds. BDATP fluoresces under UV light and can be used as a probe for the detection of copper. BDATP has been shown to have high values in hydrochloric acid and steady-state fluorescence in the presence of a copper complex. This compound is also able to be synthesized by reacting chloride with alcohol extract containing cellulose acetate. The synthesis of BDATP involves treatment with sodium carbonate followed by heating at 150°C for 3 hours. Ultrafast reversed-phase high-performance liquid chromatography has been shown to be an effective method for its analysis.
