Description:2-Bromo-D-phenylalanine is a precursor of l-DOPA, which is an amino acid that is used in the synthesis of dopamine. It is also used as a diagnostic agent for bladder cancer, where it is taken up by bladder cells and converted to radioactive 2-bromo-3′-deoxyuridine. This radioactive compound can be detected with a high performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) system. In addition, 2-Bromo-D-phenylalanine has been shown to inhibit the acid transporter in tumor cells, making it useful as an oncologic drug. 2 bromo d phenylalanine inhibits the acid transporter in tumor cells, making it useful as an oncologic drug
