Description:
2-Bromo-6-methoxybenzaldehyde (2BMBA) is an antibacterial agent that belongs to the class of aryl bromides. Biomolecular chemistry studies have shown a 2-hydroxy-6-methoxybenzaldehyde derivative to be coupled with an intramolecular radical and then regioselectively hydrogenated. The resulting product was found to inhibit the growth of cancer cells. This work suggests that 2BMBA may be used for anticancer therapy, as it inhibits the production of DNA, RNA, and proteins.
